Antimony trioxide is widely used in various fields (2)

With the development of science and technology, the application fields of antimony trioxide are constantly expanding. This article continues to introduce the application fields of antimony trioxide:

(6) Antimony trioxide is used as an opacifier and opacifying agent in the production of enamel and ceramics

Antimony trioxide has strong adhesion and stable properties. To ensure that enamel products have good surface coverage and a good gloss, enamel factories choose antimony trioxide as an opacifier and opacifying agent in enamel production to improve the grade of enamel products.

(7) Application of antimony trioxide in the production of zinc oxide lightning arresters

The rapid development of electrified railways and rural grid renovation has driven the rapid development of zinc oxide lightning arresters. The number of manufacturers producing lightning arresters has expanded from the original few, such as Xici, Xigao, and Fushun Electromagnetic Factory, to nearly 30 today. The consumption of antimony trioxide in lightning arrester production has also increased exponentially. Antimony trioxide, as an additive, is compounded with chemical raw materials such as cobalt oxide, manganese oxide, bismuth oxide, and zinc oxide in arrester valve pieces to enhance the strength of the valve pieces and divert the excess high voltage discharged by lightning to the ground.

(8) Antimony trioxide plays a role in lead removal in hydrometallurgical zinc smelting

Antimony trioxide is used for lead removal in hydrometallurgical zinc smelting at the Huize lead-zinc mine in Yunnan. This is the only manufacturer we know of that uses antimony trioxide as a lead remover in zinc smelting.

(9) Antimony trioxide is used as a detonator in the production of detonators and explosives

(10) Antimony trioxide is used as a precipitant in titanium dioxide production

(11) Antimony trioxide is used as an additive in the coatings industry

Fire-retardant paints and green paints made with antimony trioxide as an additive are widely used in ships, aircraft, insulated cables, bridges, boilers, etc. These paints are lightfast, heat-resistant, corrosion-resistant, and have good stability.

(12) Antimony trioxide is used as a flame retardant in copper-clad laminates

Copper-clad laminates are used in the electronics industry to make printed circuit boards, widely used in televisions, computers, radios, telephones, refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, etc. The circuit boards in these products all need to be flame-retardant, and the vast majority are halogen-bromine-antimony flame retardants.

(13) Composite synergists composed of antimony and other metals

According to relevant reports, the development direction of inorganic flame-retardant synergists is to develop composite synergists composed of antimony and other metals. Some varieties of these synergists not only have excellent performance but also are inexpensive.
