Huaxing Group, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, and Cengong County jointly discuss industry-academia-research cooperation to jointly promote high-quality development of the antimony industry.
On December 24, 2025, Huaxing Group, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, and Cengong County, Guizhou Province, held a trilateral industry-academia-research cooperation exchange and negotiation meeting in Chengdu, Sichuan. Building on the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China’s established support for Cengong County, the meeting focused on the industrial development needs of the Cengong Economic Development Zone. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions centered on tackling core technologies and promoting the industrial application of antimony-based high-end materials, and reached significant intentions for future collaboration.

Tian Tao, a member of the Standing Committee of the Cengong County Party Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee of the Economic Development Zone, and Deputy Director of the Management Committee, along with other relevant leaders from the Economic Development Zone, attended the meeting. At the meeting, Gong Wen, President of Huaxing Group, introduced the company’s situation and, based on the realities of industrial development, clearly articulated two major technical cooperation needs: First, to master the core technologies for preparing high-purity antimony and compound semiconductors such as indium antimonide and gallium antimonide, thereby breaking the foreign monopoly; second, to conduct compositional analysis and optimize formulations of existing flame-retardant materials, achieving cost reduction and efficiency improvement. He expressed his desire to jointly establish a industry-academia-research base with the university and local authorities, working together to promote the transformation and upgrading of Cengong County’s antimony industry.

Professor Xia Chuan and Professor Jia Kun from the School of Materials and Energy at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China have both responded positively to the feasibility of research and development in semiconductor materials and flame-retardant materials, respectively. They believe that these areas align closely with the industrial development needs of Cengong County and that substantive cooperation could be initiated. Zhou Haitao, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School, stated that the School will actively fulfill its social service mission and fully support deepening cooperation with Cengong County and Huaxing Group—on the basis of feasibility—so as to promote the practical application and commercialization of scientific research findings and contribute to local industrial development and rural revitalization.

This symposium marks the entry of the tripartite cooperation among government, universities, and enterprises into a new phase. All parties unanimously agreed to fully leverage Cenggong County’s industrial and policy advantages, the University of Electronic Science and Technology’s research and talent strengths, and Huaxing Group’s market and commercialization expertise. They will accelerate the refinement of the cooperation plan, jointly tackle critical core technology challenges, enhance China’s independent innovation capabilities in the field of strategic materials, and work together to contribute to the high-quality development of the regional economy.
